Anton Faraday is a successful British wildlife painter whose world is turned over when he comes across a fake version of his work. His search for the person responsible for the forgery leads him to Vietnam. The Seed of Corruption by A.I. Fabler is an intriguing tale that describes the details of Anton’s travels. He faces a lot of change when he meets Caroline, a young woman in search of her half-Vietnamese brother and a juicy story to solidify her career as a professional journalist. They soon become romantically linked and decide to help each other fulfill their goals.

But they are unprepared for the harsh environment of the Vietnam inhabitants, where things are much different from how they are back home. Pretty soon, a strange pandemic hits, and everything is thrown into chaos. The disease outbreak draws them closer together, and they are faced with a conspiracy much bigger than them. Join the duo as they explore a foreign civilization, challenge higher powers, and uncover huge secrets that have remained hidden for a long time. Will their newfound love be able to withstand the heat of conflict, and will they survive the odds that are stacked against them? Find out in this engaging piece.

There are a few positive aspects to be found in this book. There were only a few errors, and this shows that the book was professionally edited. I believe there is a central theme on the appreciation of tradition, tribes, and culture, a fact which is heavily emphasized by the author. The book sends a message which entails that all people should be accepted, despite their personal backgrounds and opinions. There is a lot of character development present, especially between the two main characters. Anton initially doubts himself when he is overwhelmed, but he later learns to face his fears. On the journey, he gains a significant amount of maturity, which is absent at the beginning of the book.

It would be a shame not to point out the considerable attention paid to details and descriptions, which shows that the writer utilized research and expertise. This also means that any reader would be able to learn a few correct facts about the SARS pandemic, which is a real-life event that affected multiple countries, including Vietnam. The book carries a dry tone of humor despite its opinion on serious and controversial issues, which makes it more fun to read. The plot is intense, with a lot of emotional scenes. The writer also did a good job maintaining an air of suspense with numerous plot twists throughout most parts of the book, which left me guessing different outcomes for the characters.

I also discovered some minor negative aspects while reading this book. There were a few time skips with irregular patterns, for example, in chapters three and four. This caused quite a bit of confusion while I was reading. Also, I believe the length of the book was excessive, and this dampened my interest in the book. As a result of these reasons listed above, I rate this book three out of four stars. I recommend this book to anyone interested in mystery and suspense novels. Also, I recommend it to any lovers of literary thrillers.

I don’t understand why when a man and a woman are involved in the same circumstance a romantic relationship seems destined to develop. In my opinion, the plot could go further if so much attention was not paid to romance.

There wasn't that much details about their romance, its a good story line but I would prefer more attention to their romance and love story.

There were a few time skips with irregular patterns, for example, in chapters three and four. This must not have been a very admirable quality in this book. Nevertheless, all the numerous good qualities still make me eager to read this book.

Guilt is a strong force, and shame is an emotion born of it. This story is a sad one, especially for Sylvia who had to suffer for the crime of her Father. I am glad she eventually found the closure she needed; Salty's action was not only criminal but grossly insensitive. He could have at least made up for his mistake by being there for Sylvia, yet he didn't. The world needs less of Fathers like Salty.
