Review of Man Mission
I have always loved the world of men and thought it to be an incredible one. Reading Man Mission By Eytan Uliel not only proved my theory correct but also enlightened me on the responsibilities and challenges associated with the transition from boys to men that I had taken little notice of.
The Plot revolves around four men whose love for travel and adventure right from their college years plunges them into a yearly trip to any place in the world, they called this their Man Mission. Initially, Man Mission seemed impossible because after college these men were faced with real-life responsibilities, jobs, relationships and families but determination backed by their desire to get a break from these responsibilities birthed the first Man Mission trip. Although the first Man Mission was organized by two men, as the plot unfolds two more friends joined the mission making them four altogether. What seemed like a getaway from responsibilities and a get-together among themselves proved to be a means of seeking solace, advice, and learning life lessons and while this trip presented its challenges, these men learnt to heal broken relationships, mend family issues, adjust to life difficulties and job duties and most importantly "move on." After 15 years of these trips, the men’s committee decided to give Man Mission a pause, planning the continuation of Man Mission 2 when their boys become old enough.
Although the book seemed to be narrated by one character I enjoyed the way the author switched from different viewpoints. I was able to understand what each character’s personality is like and I personally loved Alec, he was the most daring and adventurous I also admired Sam for his unique sense of humour and lively nature. The trips were very interesting to read about, the author did a great job in hand-picking exciting locations to develop the setting of each trip such as Thailand, Spain, South Africa, Fiji, and Australia among several others that were so engaging that I could feel as though I was part of the group. These trips also did have several interesting events like the encounter with some drug dealers, the sighting of Aurora and when the men got intoxicated after drinking the Kava with the Fijians. Aside from these trips being extremely interesting, there were also morals to learn from reading this book. I learnt the importance of finding a balance between work, family and social life plus Vacations are incredibly great after all.
There are no negative aspects to this book. The author did a great job weaving his characters about each event in this book. The inspirational quotes and Bible passages were very engaging and impressed me beyond how I can express myself. I also loved the ability of the author to drift between scenarios and yet carry his readers along as I never lost concentration, understanding or interest in this book.
I, therefore, rate this book 4 out of 4 Stars because this book was properly edited and the plot was well developed. I recommend this book to the general audience, especially lovers of adventure as they would find a lot to relate with and laugh about in this book.
