"22 Poems You Should Read about Life and Love" the title says it all. This is a book of poems about the emotions felt throughout life. Preeti Govada is a freelance writer, wife, mother and poet. The author has this book of poems separated into three categories: Love and Romance, Inspirational, Sorrow and Tragedy. Each poem expresses a feeling or emotion that everyone has felt at some point in their life. Preeti Govada was able to express all those feelings and so many more into this collection of poems.

The first category is Love and Romance: These poems reflect all different types of love. From that first feeling of love and guidance that we get from a parent (in this case her mother). To the excitement and fear that comes with falling in love with someone. Even though these poems are about love and romance I got the feeling of an underlying sense of sorrow and uncertainty to them.

The next category in the book is Inspirational. My favorite poem in the book "Whither that erstwhile strength..." is in this category. That poem truly made me feel inspired, but the rest had the same underlying sense of sorrow. Some of the poems in this section actually made me feel depressed. I would not classify them as inspirational.

The final section of the book is Sorrow and Tragedy. I feel this section has the best poems in the book. These were not my favorites because I normally like my poetry bright and happy but they were by far her best writings. She is able to express the undeniable hurt and depression caused by life's losses. That feeling of sadness and uncertainty when life changes. These poems were able to evoke memories and pain from my own past. Which may be why they were not my favorites.

Overall these poems have a bleakness and sadness to them. Preeti has the incredible ability to make the reader experience the emotions that she wrote in each of her poems. While they left me with a small ache in my chest, I will read them again. I also look forward to reading more work by Preeti Govada. I rated this book a 3 out of 4 stars. I feel anybody who has ever experienced the ups and downs of life, love and emotions could appreciate these poems. I hope you enjoy her writings as much as I did.
