Review of JTs World
[Following is a volunteer review of "JTs World" by E. Alan Fleischauer.]
John Thurgood Thomas (aka JT), is in the process of building his version of Disney World, called JTs World. It has a Ferris wheel, theater, lodging, diner, saloon, and fireworks, among other entertainments. Adults and families enjoy their time there. The story in JTs World by E. Alan Fleischauer is not dominant there. The book is part of western series but fine as a standalone. Three characters, JT, Pete, and Re-Pete are the most stable throughout the journey. JT is a wealthy man and his twin horses, Pete and Re-pete, gallop with him into the most lawless of places, always escaping by a thread of hair.
Many admirable aspects stand out about JTs World. The long tale is a journey that leads to impromptu, eventful territories. JT and his group of workers travel to search for horses to buy. On the way, they meet chronically starved Indians. One of their oldest, a shifter, has an interest in JT's hat. They come across three habitual rapists shooting at a woman. After gunning two of the goons down, they find a pastor dead in his hiding place. They encountered dangerous and wanted men at every stop. Assassins are interested in exterminating JT for love, wealth, and revenge. Professional bounty hunters like Heller track down criminals, gun them down, and collect the rewards.
The author has employed natural, authentic dialogue. The characters such as JT and Heller have different intonations that make the others think it is funny. For instance, JT tells Heller "it’s marrying, not mare-yin". The danger is at every turn, but the characters enjoy themselves immensely. They make friends, and party, and JT rethinks his notion of not wanting to be married when he meets doctor Tillman. The most interesting event involves identical twins who are full of brains and mischief. They are among the wanted dead or alive for bank robberies and murders. JT and Heller develop comradeship in the chase for the rebels.
As excellent as the writing is, there are too many characters. The author has done a great job in developing them. If I were to offer an alternative title, then it would be something like 'Killers Every Corner'.
I rate the book 4 out of 4 stars. This is due to the amazing plot, lovable characters, and exceptional editing. The book is nothing short of amusing. Themes of family, love, and adventure are dominant.
I recommend JTs World by E. Alan Fleischauer to readers who enjoy novels with a bit of everything western and plenty of confrontations. Readers of murder, western, and fantasy bits of love will enjoy the book. There is extensive swearing in the book and a brief encounter with a pastor.
