Review of Man Mission
Are you naturally an explorer? Are you someone who enjoys taking quick journeys around the world? If so, then this book is a must-read. In this outstanding book, discover the world of safaris, deserts, wild camping, mountain hut life, and Kayaking as seen through the eyes of Eytan Uliel.
Man Mission follows the lives of four friends, Sam, Daniel, Alec, and Sonny, as they go through different phases in life. Man Mission began with Sonny and Sam setting up an impromptu and adventurous trip to New Zealand, the first destination where they declared that from then onwards, they would have annual trips across the globe. On the next trip, another of their friends joins them until they all join in on their annual trips globally. With every different year, they came up with new destinations and adventures, more extreme from the previous ones. During these annual trips, they sustain injuries, meet new people and explore different cultures while continuing with their everyday lives when not on travel. The author depicts the trials and tribulations they all go through at different stages in their lives, some of the happiness and some of the heartache.
Eytan is an excellent author who can keep his audience engaged with the characters portrayed in this book. I loved how he described the destinations they reached in a detailed way that made me feel like I were part of their vacation. Moreover, I enjoyed learning about the dishes they tasted while visiting the destinations and learning more about their culture. One minute I was crying over some scenes of heartache mentioned, while another,I laughed at how stupid I found these four friends to be.
However, as much as I found the book quite impressive, there were aspects I didn’t quite get. At the beginning of some chapters, the author would quote a phrase, which I couldn’t get how it related to the rest of the chapter. Therefore, this threw me off a bit. I also found the female characters in this book to be controlling and generally unlikeable, such that I wished the author had only focused on themselves as men. Anyway, these minor issues didn’t deter me from enjoying this book.
This awe-inspiring novel deserves a rating of 5 out of 5 stars, which is well-deserved as the book seems to have been professionally edited, which made reading efficient. I would recommend this book to young adults in the throes of marriage and adventurers because I believe there are good destinations mentioned that they could visit. Moreover, the use of inappropriate language makes the book suitable for adults.
