Review of Man Mission
Two men met at an eatery in a law school, and they became best friends because they shared a mutual love for food. They both had plans to go on yearly vacations, doing some outdoor activities and trying out new kinds of foods. After a few years, all these plans got neglected. Then, on the spur of the moment, one of them calls up the other and tells him, "Let us go." They had to hasten their plans and set off. Henceforth, the story Man Mission had begun.
Many years rolled by, and then the two founding members were joined by two other friends, who joined one at a time. This group of three became four; they were biking, kayaking, and hiking in different parts of the world together. They explored South Africa, Fiji, Vietnam, Iceland, and New Zealand, among many other countries, for their expeditions over a long period of fifteen years, with each tour being physically challenging and more action-packed than the last as they all tried to prove their vigor and surpass each other. I loved everything about the book. I found this book engrossing, intriguing, and engaging on many levels. I loved how the writer of this book blotted out every single event that happened in his life and gave out every detail of what happened as they journeyed. The reader of this book is enlightened on the essential principles that happened in the lives of the four characters. They all fell in love, got married, had separate careers, and built their families. We saw them break down and win. We also saw them grow and change, and they got to learn and understand more about each other.
Man Mission is a book that’s all about living, with themes of adventures, friendship, travel, family, marriage, changes, choices, and some theoretical bends that surfaced in the unique story. Part of the story that got me amused was when the thoughts of the main character turned reflective, and this made him realize numerous things. I believe we all can learn from his struggles and the epilogue he obtained from such circumstances. Many words struck me deeply. Some of these assumptions were that friends come and go, people change, everybody surely gets to die, not every romance lasts forever, and not everyone accepts bitter truths.
The author, Eytan Uliel, did an excellent job of describing what men see on their outings, from the scenery to the various cultures of the people they meet. I’ll give this book 5 out of 5 stars. The book was well edited, entertaining, emotional, amusing, thought-provoking, and insightful.
I recommend this book to lovers of adventures. Anyone who loves traveling and adventurous stories would definitely love this great book.
