Review of I Can Still Hear You
I Can Still Hear You by Nicole Black followed the adventure of Scarlett O'Connor, a thirty-year-old woman who was going through some hard times. Scarlett's father, Anthony O'Connor, was terminally ill. He had been diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and underwent a lung transplant. Five years later, he was on his deathbed, and Scarlett was about to become an orphan. Anthony, a man of wisdom, had some last words for his daughter and promised to tell her the greatest secret to living a happy life. However, this secret was not to be quickly revealed. Scarlett discovered that she might have to embark on an adventure that only Anthony O'Connor could set up before this secret would be revealed to her. Her father warned her that the journey was hers alone. The adventure was fraught with many difficulties. Would she uncover this secret?
The book was a heartwarming story with an exciting plot. The storytelling ran smoothly with clarity and purpose. It was fast-paced, and there was no long draw out with revealing important story plots. There was some anticipation built up early in the story when Anthony O'Connor tried to reveal the secret to a happy life but was unable to do so. The rest of the book was a curious search for this magical secret that would allow one access to happiness, and this curiosity could keep readers' attention till the end.
This book was filled with so many life nuggets and words of wisdom that would positively influence the life of readers. Scarlett was sent on a journey, and as I followed her adventure, I watched as she discovered herself and life in general. Her character represented people who had hit rock bottom in life, and her journey was symbolic of the unique step every person must take to discover themselves. There were so many lessons to be learned from Scarlett's journey. The most profound lesson would be that all the answers to our questions could be found outside our comfort zone.
Without a doubt, Anthony O'Connor's character was the most endearing. His character had a serenity that drew me in as I anticipated the next life-changing words of wisdom. I especially loved the expression of his character as a father who guided his child to learn the way of life rather than simply giving out all the information. Through his character, I saw how unconditional love and kindness could pull people together.
I Can Still Hear You was amazing. I loved the simplicity of the story and the warmth it carried. Most importantly, I loved its uplifting aura. I found nothing in this book to dislike, and it was well-edited. This book would be most suited to puzzle lovers and adventurers at heart. With nothing to dislike, I'd rate I Can Still Hear You five out of five stars.
