Backcomb and Tattoo by Shea R. Embry is a transitional fiction book that peers into the lives of Rachael, Aunt Mary Opal, Jesi, and Nicole. Each woman, unique, bonded over their weekly luncheons and formed a magnificent friendship. The book gives a brief background of each woman which helps the reader to understand each woman’s perspective. Rachael who lost her mother was able to find comfort in the company of Aunt Mary Opal, who although has a few secrets in her pocket tried to be an excellent, cool friend. Jesi, whose life is a bit different, as she is known to come from a wealthy family easily found her way with both Rachael and Aunt Mary Opal. While Nicole who ended a messy relationship, found the best woman to heal with.
I especially found the idea heartwarming that each woman, though having her own belief, accepted each other for who they were. Their friendship was truly amazing. Even though each lady had her own struggle, they managed to stay loyal to each other thus proving that long-lasting friendships are indeed possible. This book managed to evoke a slew of tearful moments as Shea R. Embry portrayed many different emotions by the characters.

I was particularly hurt by the fact Aunt Mary Opal felt like she was not able to trust the ladies with her big secret. I believed that even though each lady had their own opinion would have supported Aunt Mary Opal with this big decision. Based on the type of friendship each lady had with Aunt Mary Opal it would have been best for her to share her big secret so they could each offer support in their own way.

I give this magnificent page-turner 5 out of 5 stars . I was able to read this book clearly, and I was certainly satisfied with the fact that my interest was piqued right to the last sentence. The positivity of this book is second to none. The book taught me to appreciate the bonds of friendship. In addition, I learned that family may not come in the form of persons related by blood but also by friends who are loyal to each other no matter the circumstance.

The writing is clear and neat and very well edited as I found no grammatical errors. This book is recommended for persons who like stories in which females are the dominant characters. If you need a book filled with positivity, or you may especially like the idea of friendships, then this book is just the one for you.
