Official Review: Fate Reborn by Christina OW

Fate Reborn by Christina OW is the first book in her up-and-coming Dukkha fate series. The book is listed in the sci-fi genre. However, I personally think that it would also fit nicely in either the romance or YA genre as well. The book is 226 pages long, and you can get it on Amazon.
This book introduces us to a man named Ashat. However, Ashat is not your average man, but is actually a three hundred year old werewolf out to seek vengeance. He has lived his entire existence feeling guilty for not being able to save his family from a man named Baku. As Ash and Baku fight back and forth throughout the centuries, their battle ends up causing Ash to cross paths with the oh so tempting Merilee. As he begins to fall for Merilee, he starts to believe that there could actually be happiness in his life once again. Of course, that is if he can protect her from Baku, win over her heart despite her own horrific background, and convince her to not run away screaming when she learns what he truly is.
When I began reading this book, the first thing I noticed was how well the characters had been developed. The author spends the first few chapters going over the events that make up Merilee’s tragic background, which really lays the foundation for the type of woman she is for the rest of the book. The author also gives you plenty of details that help you get a feel for the side characters as well. However, I would have preferred for the author to have explained more about Ash and Baku’s past since it is the basis for the series plot. I also would have enjoyed having the characters described more thoroughly. The only description the author really gives is what ethnicity a character is, and that they are attractive.
On a more positive note, I found the authors writing style to be very light and simple. She was never overly complex in her writing, but would clearly state what was happening so that you could easily follow the storyline. I think my favorite thing about this book though, is the narration between all of the characters. The author made sure that their conversations always stayed true to each of their personalities, which made it easier to feel the emotions behind the words.
I rate this book a 3 out of 4 stars, and would definitely recommend it to anyone who would enjoy a good romance that has a pinch of action and a dash of the supernatural thrown in. I found this book to be quite engaging, and actually had a bit of difficulty putting it down. I loved the characters, I loved the plot, and I love that there is a second book in this series on its way.
