Review of McDowell
The ability to correct one's mistakes is what distinguishes humans. This book, McDowell by William H. Coles, is a fictional book that describes Hiram McDowell's love, hate, bad, and good sides. This book is divided into two parts. The first part talked about Hiram’s selfish life for money and fame. Where did this lead him to? Was his fame a worthy one? Read this book.
The second part of this book talked about Hiram's past choices and his downfall. Hiram lost his second wife and is presently married to his third wife, Carole, with three kids. He is a surgeon who has a hospital in Nepal. Hiram was not only a surgeon but also a musician who only wanted to have fun outside the house. He was a mountaineer who aspired to climb many mountains in Nepal, where he lived. If I may say so, he has many ambitious goals. Hiram, due to his quest for fame, betrayed his friend Michael to get a position that wasn’t meant for him. He became president of the International College of Surgeons. Hiram's downfall all began with his quest for more fame. He became the object of attraction. Paige, a well-known journalist, caused the fall of Hiram McDowell. How did this happen?
I must say this book is interesting. The book has a lot of suspense, which made me more eager to read it. I must say the beginning of this book was a bit annoying because the protagonist had a careless life, but at a certain point, I loved the protagonist, and then again, I felt pity for the people who caused his downfall. Hiram McDowell had a complex life that was morally inspiring. I must say his life is an inspiration in itself because I learned a lot from it. My favorite part of this book is the kind of relationship his children had. His son Billie ended up being a musician, Ann got married and had two kids, and his other daughter Sophie became a photographer. This book has a lot of moral lessons and is educational. I must say this was a great read.
I found no errors in this book. This book is well-edited. The book was a bit complex at the beginning, and the words used in the book are complex for young readers. Apart from this, the book has no flaws. I love the plot and the insight the author uses in this book. Even though there were many characters in the book, they were all well-developed. I must commend the author for his effort in the publishing of this book.
I rate this book, McDowell by William H. Coles, 5 out of 5 stars. I see no reason to deduct any stars from this book, as I enjoyed every part of it. This book is of high quality. I recommend this book to adults, people who also love suspenseful novels, and fictional scholars. This will be a great read for people in the above categories.
