Man Mission by Eytan Ulie is an adventure novel about a group of four best friends on a fifteen-year life journey. While in university, they talked about taking an annual adventurous man mission to travel to different parts of the world, eat wild exotic food, and doing fun activities. After graduating and three years later, the Man Mission dream came to reality when two of the friends decided to go on their first annual trip for one week, taking a break from their corporate work lives. The pair of young, impulsive friends set off on their journey to New Zealand to hike fifty miles on the Harper’s Pass Trail with minimum food and supplies. Will they be able to survive camping out in the wild on their first trip? Will an adventurous annual trip be a part of their yearly calendar?

What I liked about the story was that the author, Eytan Ulie, wrote in the first person and shared his story as he journeyed through life. The flashbacks in the book were good developments for the storyline as they conveyed background information and provided insight into the characters' motivations for the decisions and actions they took. I liked how the author used masterful, colorful descriptive words throughout the book, giving me a clear and evocative sense of the scenery and locations, they visited; he created a believable and engaging world, putting me in the exact moment as if I were on the journey with him and his friends. I can feel the adrenaline rush of excitement and fear as I read. The characters were all interesting. The brotherhood bond among the four best friends—the narrator, Sam, Alec, and Daniel—was superb. Their encouraging words during the hard times prove true friendship. It was incredible to watch them grow from young adults to middle-aged men with families and careers. I appreciated that he included maps of the places visited and inspirational quotes at the end of each chapter. I am happy that through all the narrator's travel adventures, he becomes a better, stronger, and more confident person. The inclusion of the pink bracelet in the Man Mission rule book was a good one; it helps to build up the confidence in these men. However, the bonus point for me was the epilogue at the end. Wonderful story and journey!

What I didn’t like about this book was the narrator’s eagerness for him and his best friends to explore the world at all costs. They were brilliant but bottled up every emotion inside, which was unhealthy. The narrator had created the illusion of a stable relationship, but he was suffering on the inside from insecurities and fear of his duties and responsibilities as a grown-up, father, and husband, which led him to rush off carefree with his friends. Instead of putting on a manly brave face over the years, he should have been honest with his feelings and with his wife. It was unsurprising that their marriages would be in trouble and on the verge of dissolution. Come on, who in their right mind would leave their pregnant wife alone to go on a wild trip with friends?

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. This is a fantastic adventure book to read; it speaks volumes. The author has an excellent command of the English language, and his writing style is entertaining and enjoyable to read. Many people can relate to the issues the four best friends were facing and their flaws. Their adventurous life was exhilarating. I love the messages and the lifelong lessons. The book was well edited; I did not come across any grammar, spelling, typographical, or punctuation errors.

I recommend this book to readers who love adventures. Anyone, who loves to travel and tour the world. It is powerful, vivid, and moving. Readers will absolutely enjoy the epic journey.
