Have you ever been seen in a negative way by a lot of people? Do you allow your position to control you? What do you know about purpose? Have you ever come across a terrible person?

This book, McDowell by William H. Coles, is a novel that depicts human psychology. The traits are glaring about the protagonist or main character, by the name of McDowell, who is portrayed as an arrogant and unsympathetic person. McDowell is an ambitious man who works in the health sector as a medical surgeon. After McDowell is accused of the murder of a family member, he is sentenced to prison, which he escapes. McDowell flees from prison, and his turning point about life begins as he journeys into deep retrospection and the purpose of life.

I like the cover display of a man's picture in the background. The "white" color is also well displayed and goes well with what I think is the theme. In part one of the book, an illustration is used to describe (without using words) a part of the book. The following chapter is the prologue. I think this attempt is good.

The title of the book reads like a biography. I almost mistook this work for one. I do not like that about the book. I understand that the subject matter centers on McDowell, but maybe the title could have been a phrase. I feel the book is kind of a summary, especially in the first two chapters (which are not long enough). However, the subsequent chapters take the cake. I think it is well edited too.

There is the use of monologue, which I believe displays psychology.

In this life, so many achievements can get into a person's head and cause them to feel pompous. Another aspect of this book that is rich in reality is that people may not understand a person's predicament until they get "close" to them. It’s quite easy to judge a person from afar.

Another perspective I gathered from it is that unforeseen circumstances can crop up and alter a man's life in a way he least expects it. Some decisions should be weighed carefully before being taken. This is important in life, as certain rulings can affect one gravely. McDowell is an interesting read that would change a lot of mindsets.
There was nothing I disliked about this book. The book was exceptionally edited too. Therefore, I will rate this book 5 out of 5 stars

I, however, recommend it to anyone who likes to read or who enjoys reading crime thrillers.
