Man Mission by Eytan Uliel tells the story of the protagonist and his three best friends who go on a one-week annual trip to do something that makes them feel manly, whether it is hiking, biking, kayaking, sailing, or ice climbing. These adventures lead to some wild and bizarre experiences like hitching a ride with drug dealers in New Zealand, coming face to face with a lion in South Africa, getting high on kava shots in Fiji, almost jumping straight into the mouth of a shark, and so much more. It also tells the story of this group of friends starting their careers, getting married, having kids, and being the quintessential men who follow the laid-out life path in hopes of finding happiness and fulfillment. Throughout the years, they will learn that life is not that simple. Fifteen years, thirteen countries, from losing toes to losing family, from losing everything to discovering yourself. This book has it all.

This is one of the best books I have read this year. It was very funny, and it was the only book this year that made me laugh out loud. The story was moving and insightful, and I felt sympathetic toward these four men for most of the book. I felt a myriad of emotions while reading this book: happiness, anger, relief, hurt, betrayal, and acceptance; it was quite a roller coaster. I loved seeing the growth of each individual character throughout the years, as well as seeing their friendship develop and bloom into something deeper, more mature, and more meaningful. The character development in this book is truly inspiring. I enjoyed every second of this book.

I don’t have anything negative to say about this book. There were some parts where I got frustrated at the protagonist, but even those, I realize, were necessary for his journey and growth, and in the end, it made the book that much better.

This book deserves nothing less than five out of five stars. It was well-written and exceptionally well-edited. It was thought-provoking and eye-opening, and I think we all need a reminder once in a while that it is okay to ask for help.

This book does contain a great deal of profanity as well as some sexual content, and I do not recommend it to younger readers. I would recommend this book to young adults and adults, as well as anyone who enjoys reading about travel and self-help books.
