Review of Man Mission
It is said that marriages and relationships don't always go smoothly and have their ups and downs. Eytan Uliel's roman a clef, Man Mission, is an action novel that was inspired by his boredom in university studies. The story chronicles the exploits of four young men who decide to explore and realise their biggest dreams: the author, Alec, Sam and Daniel.
They set out on an annual journey to travel to and experience various nations throughout the world. They go trekking, biking, and kayaking, and they enrich their journey by getting to know the local customs and cultures of their intended destinations. During these years, they develop into men, gain employment, and begin to settle down for the next phase of their lives. Due to this virtue, they marry and gain an understanding of the fundamentals of marriage, including its principles, obligations, and sacrifices. They also improve from this and alongside pick up valuable lessons.
This book was extremely enjoyable to read because the author used simple, understandable language and I could relate to his experience. A lot of their thrilling and entertaining journeys between locations were also enjoyable for me. This gave me knowledge of the civilisations of these other places. I also like the author's frequent use of flashbacks because they gave us a deeper understanding of the author's life, which in the public's view seemed to be the complete opposite. It was a lesson to be learned since the author clearly represented the awful realities of marriage.
More significantly, I liked the strong bond of friendship the four friends were able to uphold to the end. The occasional bouts between numerous couples in the book were another plot point I yearned for. It mostly showcased that the reality of situations might seem farther from what we think it to be. Because one of the female characters was intelligent and had different perspectives from the other female characters, I appreciated the way the author presented her in the book.
Due to its abundance of thrilling new experiences and the range of marriage lessons it offers, I would suggest this book to both adventure story fans and couples. However, it possesses some use of sexual imagery and profanity.
It is without a doubt one of the most engaging books I have ever read. Everything about the book was engrossing. This is a result of its straightforwardness and the author's personal experiences, which one may draw on and apply to one's marital life. There was barely anything I didn’t like about it too. The book was well and professionally edited and free of errors, in my opinion. I would rate the book 5 out of 5 stars as a consequence.
