Review of Man Mission
During their time in law school, two friends shared their aspirations and hopes for the future. However, as they moved on with their lives after graduation, their dreams were pushed to the background as they were consumed by the daily grind. It wasn't until Sam reminded his friend about their shared ambition that they finally took action and embarked on their first outdoor adventure trip. Thus began the Man Mission, a journey that would span fifteen years and involve four men. The initial expedition involved hiking the Harper's Pass Trail in New Zealand, and as the years went on, two more friends, Daniel and Alec, joined the group. Despite the challenges and obstacles they faced along the way, the Man Mission became an annual tradition that the friends looked forward to and cherished each year.
Each chapter of the book is carefully titled, providing a clear indication of what the reader can expect to encounter. The author has also thoughtfully included a pictorial map of each unique location visited, alongside a useful summary guide. What's more, the book incorporates inspiring quotes from renowned individuals as well as references to Old Testament scripture, providing a thought-provoking perspective on the human experience. The narrative itself is exceptionally well-written and drew me in from the very first page. It is told from a first-person point of view, but the narrator's identity remains a mystery, which adds to the allure of the book. The book chronicles the adventures of four individuals as they undertake various exciting activities, including mountain climbing, horseback riding, jungle exploration, kayaking in frigid waters, and searching for the northern lights. Altogether, this book is a captivating and enthralling read that I thoroughly enjoyed.
As I read through this book, I was struck by the author's message about resilience and the importance of not allowing difficult situations to overwhelm us. Despite the pain and challenges that come our way, we should strive to find ways to overcome them and heal. The main character of the story embodies this message by acknowledging his mistakes and forgiving himself for them, which allows him to move forward on his journey with his friends towards freedom and happiness.
The author's approach to storytelling is highly creative and encourages readers to engage their imaginations fully. The book covers a diverse range of topics, and the characters are all well-crafted with their own unique voices. The story is told from the perspective of one of the characters, and the author uses witty metaphors and humor to keep the reader engaged. The characters' amusing antics and occasional missteps add to the lighthearted tone of the story, making for an enjoyable read.
There was nothing I disliked about this book. The book was exceptionally edited. Therefore, I would give Man Mission by Eytan Uliel a rating of 5 out of 5 stars. I would recommend this book to people who enjoy books on adventures and togetherness.
