Review of McDowell
McDowell by William H. Coles is an interesting thriller novel that centers on the protagonist, Hiram McDowell. This book is divided into two major parts. Hiram is a medical doctor with adept skills and experience. He spent most of his life building his career. However, he did not care about who was in his way while building his career. He cut off a lot of people from his life, including friends and family members, while building his professional career as a surgeon. This made him hated by a lot of people, especially Michael O'Leary. He made a promise to Michael O'Leary that he would make him an executive director at the International College of Surgeons if he nominated him as president. Hiram did not fulfill his end of the bargain.
Hiram also had great disregard for women, including his wife. He did not show her love and care as a husband ought to. On the other hand, he loved his children and was always there for them. What would be the outcome of this callous surgeon? Did he turn a new leaf? Did karma ever catch up with him? Read this book to find out.
I enjoyed reading this fictional novel. It was captivating and fun. One of the things I love about this book is the moral lesson I got from it. These lessons are practical. I went back to think about my life and critically examine my actions with my friends, colleagues and family members after reading this book. Another feature I like about this book is the author's style of writing. He wrote this book with great skill and dexterity. The character development was brilliant. I could easily picture the character in my imagination. Another interesting feature about this book is the plot development. I was never bored at any point in time while reading this book. I also find this book to be professionally edited. I did not notice any typographical or grammatical errors while reading it.
After reading a book as interesting as this, I find it hard to spot a negative aspect. I enjoyed every single page. Therefore, I would like to state that there is nothing I dislike about this book. It was fascinating.
As a result of the reasons stated above, I would like to rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. I loved the storyline and cherish the lessons I got from this book.
I recommend this book to fans of thriller novels. This book would also be suitable for people who love reading books with great suspense. This book contains some sexual scenes. Therefore, I do not recommend it to children or adults who are offended by books with such content.
