Review of Man Mission
Since their late twenties, four good friends who have known one another for a long time have engaged in a yearly rite of going on adventures to different locations. Their experiences are fun, engaging, and life-changing. At a point in their lives, they are driven to make important life decisions, and they render support to one another. Man Mission by Eytan Uliel is a book that has a lot to teach and offer.
To start with this book's positive sides, the friendship and relationship that exist between the characters is something heartwarming, and it teaches a lot of things. I love the way they support one another when the need arises and how they help one another scale through personal challenges and also, the challenges encountered during their adventures. This is one good attribute this book teaches. They also pushed and challenged one another beyond their normal capabilities, which was very thoughtful.
The adventures the characters underwent were both educational and thrilling. These adventures, which were tagged "man missions," saw them through numerous places such as Peru, South Africa and Vietnam, where they enjoyed novel cultures, customs, local dishes, traditional ceremonies and games, and exquisite scenery that was aesthetically depicted. One of the experiences I loved reading about was when they attended Kava ceremonies in Fijian villages and islands. I also enjoyed reading about the Spanish bullfight that the men were eyewitnesses to.
This book had some funny sides to it. I found myself laughing at the characters' actions because they were so funny to read about. The characters did not take themselves too seriously and did well to thoroughly enjoy every experience, and I loved this. I felt like a real eyewitness and their fellow tourist.
Man Mission has a philosophical side to it, which moved me and made me reflect. The characters' life experiences and problems that were being narrated brought tears to my eyes, and I could understand why one would want to go out and have some, once in a while because, life comes with a lot of burdens and challenges. The men talked about how it was a whole different world starting their families and marriage live. There were also challenges that came with them. The fact that they could renew themselves in the company of one another filled me with a deep feeling of satisfaction. There were also mistakes made and lessons to learn, which is an essential part of being human.
The beautiful descriptions of places they visited and the fun activities they engaged in (kayaking, hiking, cycling, and biking) made the book very rich and fun to read.
One other thing I love is the narrative approach the book took. The first-person narrative style made events look as personal as they should, leaving no room for doubt about the authenticity of events in the mind of any
devoted reader.
There was nothing about Man Mission that made me dislike it.
This read by Eytan Uliel is an exceptionally edited book that is completely devoid of errors. This is why I am giving it a five out of five stars rating.
I recommend this book to adventure and travel lovers. People who hope to improve their friendships and relationships will take cues from Man Mission.
