In Man Mission, Eytan Uliel takes us through the adventures of four best friends. A once foolish dream, hatched while the men were still pursuing university courses, plays out into a reality years later. Annually, these four best friends take on an adventure to an exotic place, often overestimating their abilities and returning home with injuries— some as unexpected as falling off of the toenails. Cycling in the Japanese Alps, trekking in New Zealand, and taking a trip to Africa are among the missions the best friends undertake.

As the four men explore various countries annually, we follow their regular lives of working and making crucial life decisions. As time goes by, the guys settle and have families, battling the challenges every marriage does. The talks are humorous, and the way they roast each other is hilarious. Sometimes idiotic, other times wild, and most times fun, the expeditions were delightful to follow, as Eytan Uliel made me feel like I was part of the team.

I enjoyed the portrayal of the four men as imperfect. The marriages had their ups and downs, and one of the guys took random girls during their family meet-ups. In addition, at one point in their lives, they all had to initiate some changes: purchasing a house and changing careers, among others. Sam was my favorite among the four. There was a way he got me in his doings. Alec was equally fascinating and steadfast in his life decisions. Eytan was as lovable as were his flaws during the excursions. Daniel was cool-headed.

The Fijian beaches were exhilarating. I even envisioned being there. The encounter with drug dealers in New Zealand was hilarious yet dangerous because one wrong move could end with someone getting shot. Despite their demanding careers, the four men succeeded in undertaking an annual expedition. I found that fascinating. As the years went by, I observed growth among them.

Some events were not arranged chronologically. The going back and forth was a bit confusing. Although a minor hitch, that is what I disliked. The vulgarity was acceptable, given that four grown men often came face to face with danger. However, I find the book unsuitable for young readers. The author explores the themes of romance, friendship, adventure, and personal growth. I found very few errors. Therefore, the book is professionally edited. I rate Man Mission by Eytan Uliel 5 out of 5 stars. I recommend it to men contemplating marriage and those yet to find a purpose in life.

An excellent review. I also loved reading this book, even as a female reader.
