Review of Man Mission
Man Mission by Eytan Uliel details the adventures of four best friends from university. They soon go down different paths, have jobs to do, and families to tend to. Soon, their boring lives catch up with them, and they need to take a break from their normal routine. It is there that they fulfill their childhood fantasies of going on wilderness-foodie adventures annually. A man's mission is then created. The men set out on a week-long trip to exquisite places to do manly stuff that challenges them. They ask permission from the wives' committee, who reluctantly agree. They go hiking, biking, or kayaking, all while exploring the world. Man Mission soon becomes more than an annual getaway for them. It becomes a place of refuge when life gets the better of them. The four men become closer than ever, and they help each other get over life's mistakes and mess-ups.Men really go through a lot of pressure in their lives, right from work to home to their marriages. These and many more battles men face are well documented in this book. If you're looking for adventure, the book will certainly not let you down.
The author really went above and beyond my expectations and did an outstanding job detailing the descriptions of places visited. He really knows how to create tension and also find solutions to problems stated. I was between tears and laughter at the same time as Eytan Uliel used humour in his story and also describes tough moments in the life of the narrator. In the long run, the book was just WOW!
The settings and scenes set in this book were top-notch Furthermore, the characters introduced are also narrated well and the reader gets to see their background. The book was pleasant. However, the themes brought out by the author about cheating and break-ups were just sickening. I also did not like the discussion on vasectomy that was briefly introduced.
I rate the book 5 out of five stars. The author did a good job by the use of humour, vivid description and the use of great scenes for the book's development. The book also has outstanding editing. I also found the character development and the story's flow beautiful.
I recommend this book to all readers passionate about adventure books. Men in their thirties to sixties would also benefit from this book as it gives the challenges they face every day.
