Review of Man Mission
Eytan Uliel's book Man Mission chronicles the epic 15-year journey of four men, Alec, Samuel, Daniel, and the author himself, as they fulfil a long-held fantasy of going on annual vacations to exotic locations. The book captures their adventures and experiences, which are filled with excitement and humour, making it an engaging read. In addition to the thrilling travel tales, the book also explores the personal lives of friends, including their careers, relationships, and family dynamics. It is a lively and spirited novel that keeps the reader hooked with its entertaining and captivating narrative.
The adventure was a challenge that the four friends embarked upon to experience life as men, escaping from their work, wives, and children to enjoy time alone. Through their journey, the author learned that being a man doesn't necessarily involve undertaking perilous adventures like kayaking across the ocean or trekking through a hostile jungle. Instead, the most authentic life is to lead a life without compromise and to keep moving forward, even during challenging and painful times. The author concludes that his mission now is to cherish and relish the present moment with his loved ones. This valuable lesson is something that readers can also benefit from and apply to their own lives.
What I found particularly delightful about this book was the author's skill in opening each chapter with engaging quotes that draw inspiration from scriptural verses. Furthermore, he includes important statistics at the end of every chapter to summarize the group's annual adventure, covering details such as the country and location visited, mode of transportation used, distance travelled, accommodation, and any injuries sustained during the vacation. These endnotes provide a comprehensive overview of each year's journey and add depth to the overall narrative.
There is nothing that I disliked about this book. It can be a useful travel guide for readers who are interested in visiting the destinations described by the author. However, the book offers much more than just travel advice; it's an entertaining read that is sure to evoke laughter from readers. The author's use of humour throughout the book is engaging and ensures that readers are entertained from start to finish.
I gave this book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars as it manages to be both entertaining and informative, offering valuable lessons on life. The book was exceptionally well-edited and error-free. I highly recommend this book to fellow adventurers who are interested in travelling the world, as well as to men who want to gain a deeper understanding of what it means to live as a man.
