Review of Man Mission
[Following is a volunteer review of "Man Mission" by Eytan Uliel.]
Eytan Uliel's Man Mission is an intriguing work of fiction that follows the journey of four men who embark on an annual expedition, a tradition they have upheld for fifteen years. Throughout their incredible adventure, they encounter events that leave a lasting impact on their lives. The book explores themes of fear, joy, and adventure, but perhaps most significantly, it emphasizes the importance of friendship. The bond of friendship brings these men together, particularly when the weight of their personal lives becomes overwhelming.
This is a tale that revolves around a group of four young friends who commit to an annual dose of adventure, come what may. During their expeditions, they encounter drug dealers in New Zealand, confront a lion in South Africa, and trek to Machu Picchu, all of which make them incredibly fearless. As time passes, they become more engrossed in the societal expectations imposed on men, like getting married and establishing careers. However, when the struggles of real life clash with the picture-perfect existence they are supposed to lead, their Man Mission becomes a sanctuary where they seek redemption.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book, as it provided me with a unique perspective on life. The author's writing style is praiseworthy, as he presents a man's viewpoint on matters related to career and fatherhood while also highlighting the societal pressures imposed on men. The story enabled me to see the world from a male perspective and understand the intricacies of adult male relationships. I appreciated how the author vividly described the various locations visited by the characters, making them come alive in my mind's eye. Eytan, in particular, was a character I found appealing, as he openly expressed his emotions to his friends and family.
The book is a fantastic depiction of the male perspective, and the author's writing style is superb. The thrilling adventure is interwoven with significant life events that shape the characters' personalities and outlooks on life. I would strongly recommend this captivating book to anyone who enjoys travel, adventure, or exploring new places. It is an excellent read that leaves a lasting impression, providing a unique and thought-provoking perspective on what it means to be a "man." There is nothing to dislike about this book, making it an ideal choice for anyone looking for a compelling and engaging story.
I gave this book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars because it was a delightful mix of action and humour. The book's exploration of male friendships was one of its most engaging aspects, as the four main characters shared a bond that went beyond traditional societal expectations. This added a layer of complexity and depth to the story, making it a refreshing read. Additionally, the book was exceptionally edited and completely error-free, further enhancing its overall quality.
