Man Mission by Eytan Uliel is a captivating novel about four friends who had an adventurous ritual. Charlie Brown, Sam, Alec and Daniel were long-time friends. When they met in law school, Sam and Charlie talked about their dream to travel to different parts of the world. This dream became a reality three years later. Their first destination was Harper’s Pass, South Island, New Zealand. From then on, travelling to a new destination once every year became a ritual. In fifteen years, the four friends visited different countries including Japan, Australia, Fiji, South Africa, Vietnam, Taiwan, Peru, South Korea, the United States of America and Iceland. The goal of each adventure was to challenge themselves by doing different activities that were beyond their comfort zone.

The main character of the book is Charlie Brown. The book is written from his point of view. The major themes are friendship, marriage, family interactions and adulthood. In every chapter, the writer vividly narrates the events that took place when the friends travelled to different places. In between the chapters, Eytan gives the readers an account of what had been happening in the lives of the four friends before each Man Mission.

There are two things that I loved the most about this book. First, there were humorous events in the book. My favourite scene was when Sam and Charlie travelled to Harper’s Pass, South Island, New Zealand and were attacked by animals when they slept in their tent. The two thought that the animals were wild and were scared the whole night. They woke up the next morning and realized that the animals that attacked them were cows.

Secondly, the book is written from a man's point of view. The writer explains what a man goes through as he strives to provide for his family. The emotional turmoil, self-doubt, need to be understood and societal pressure are all described in the book. After reading the book, I had a new perspective on what manhood, adulthood and life are all about.

There is nothing that I disliked about this book. It was well-edited. I didn't notice any mistake when reading it. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. The book was intriguing and I couldn’t put it down when I started reading it. Each chapter is narrated in simple language and in a captivating way. I recommend this book to people who love reading novels about adventure. The book is also suitable for people who are going through a rough patch and would like to find the meaning of life. This book will give them hope and a new perspective.
