Review of Backcomb & Tattoo
Different people. Bonds over their experience in life. Journeys in life are different, yet they can also be the same. Rachael is an interior designer married to a singer-husband. Rachael is happy to be married to the man she loves, but some doubts she has had for years make her question everything. Mary Opal, or what she would like her friends to call her, "Aunt Mary Opal," is a widowed old woman. She was affiliated with the CIA and kept a lot of secrets. Jesi is a woman from Sicily who travels to different places and never stays for more than a month. She's very open to her sexuality, brave, and the kind of friend who will fight for you. And lastly, Nicole is sensitive, empathetic, and has this air of innocence that will make you love her. She is in the middle of a divorce and suffered emotional abuse from her former wife. The four women are from different walks of their life. Life will test their strength and friendship. Will they prevail, or will things stay the same?
What I like about the book is Aunt Mary Opal. Period! I want to be just like her when I grow old. The fact that she was affiliated with the CIA when she was young was so cool. It probably won't sound great to others if they're afraid to lie or get in trouble. I also admire that she's still standing tall despite what she's been through. I get where she's coming from. Sometimes, it's hard to say something. It's just easier to keep things quiet. It may look like she's a coward or running away from her problems, but she was only trying to protect or preserve the life she thought was right. I get it.
I can't exactly think of something that I didn't like about the book. The plot and characters in the story are clear to understand. There is always something interesting that is happening. Their adventures together were entertaining to read. Their struggles in life were very relatable. And their budding friendship was heartwarming to read.
I rate the book Backcomb & Tattoo by Shea R. Embry 5 out of 5 stars. The book is a relatable story with heartwarming dialogues. It's exciting and humorous. The characters were interesting to read about. Each of their stories differs from one another, yet they complement together.
I recommend this book to all women. It's a story catered to women who have different experiences in life. It's the kind of story you will never get bored of. It's entertaining because of the hilarious dialogue they have. It will also touch your heart with their tear-jerking experiences.
