Four men are burdened by the weights on their shoulders. They have been friends since university. They have long since progressed to starting families, building their careers, and struggling to earn money. Society expects so much from them, and they try to conceal the frustration and disappointment in their hearts. They share the same fears and go through similar trials. They face marital problems and tiresome work on a daily basis, and they struggle to keep a steady job. After remembering their youthful dreams of heading out every once in a while on wild foodie adventures, they decide to make it a reality. They ask permission from their wives, and off they go. This trip soon acquires the name Man Mission and becomes an annual event. The purpose of it is to escape reality and let off some steam. They take part in physical activities including kayaking, hiking, bicycle riding, and swimming. The Man Mission evolves and soon acquires its own charter and rules. It becomes their refuge and banner in times of turmoil and distress.

I loved the book. It has the moral lessons that 'a problem shared is a problem half solved' and that 'all dreams are valid'. Evidently, conversations about challenges facing either one of the men proved beneficial. Furthermore, the execution of a dream from university goes to show that with proper planning, anything is possible. The scenes described by the author are magnificent. They seem breathtaking, as described by the author, and if I get the chance, I might just visit them myself.

What I didn't like about the book was that the author went off topic when he introduced events not related to the Man Missions. Such cases include family disputes and work trips. I felt that he should have stuck to the Man Missions rather than giving personal details about the characters.

I rate the book 5 out of 5 stars. The trips covered by the four men are well captured, from their planning to their fulfillment. This is done through detailed descriptions. The author tells the reader all the challenges encountered on the trips. This was helpful considering that I might plan a boys trip myself. The book is also exceptionally well edited.

I recommend Man Mission by Eytan Uliel to lovers of adventure books and those enthusiastic about traveling. The book contains a variety of gateway destinations that one might consider.
