Review of Backcomb & Tattoo
Backcomb & Tattoo is written by Shea R. Embry. The story centers on Aunt Mary Opal, an elderly woman, and her youthful pals, Rachael, Jesi, and Nicole. Aunt Mary Opal has a life-limiting condition. She would rather not tell anyone, though. She only wants to spend her final days surrounded by children and their happiness. In order to get three young women into a circle of friends where they can drink and make memories, she invites them. They have plenty of mishaps and humorous situations throughout the course of the book. The narrative occurs over the course of a year. During that time, everyone's life undergoes significant transformations. Aunt Mary Opal is a fascinating and enigmatic figure. She keeps many things about her life a secret and advises her new pals to do the same. As the narrative develops, we watch as these pals spin a complex web of secrets to obfuscate their earlier ones.
Foremost, I adored the book's writing style. Situational levity was well-used in the narrative, and I thought it heightened the suspense. The account of Aunt Mary Opal's life that she gave was interesting. Every time she presented the narrative, she added drama, which was excellent. The interaction between the characters occasionally contains humor, making the novel simple to grasp and upbeat to read. The author also shows how friendships can help friends recover from emotional wounds. This instructive book was made more approachable by the author's addition of themes. The characters were well-developed, and it was easy to comprehend why they did what they did. The lives of the ladies in the book made the value of a support group clear. The author's depictions were vibrant, which made it easier for me to picture numerous locations.
There was nothing that I disliked about the book; it was well-written and insightful. The author does a good job of handling serious subjects. With lots of potential for laughter, the mixture of somber, melancholy, and cheerful components works well. It was easy for me to become caught up in each character's story as a result. These ladies genuinely help one another out of sheer sisterhood. I liked reading about how they met. Despite their differences, they complement each other so nicely. They seem to be able to solve any issue when they first meet.
There were no grammatical errors or mistakes in it. Therefore, it was exceptionally well edited. As a result, I am rating the book, Backcomb & Tattoo, 5 out of 5 stars.
I recommend this book to readers who love adventures with friends.
