Official Review: Magic of Divine Love by Dr. Manjusha

In this book, Dr. Manjusha, the author, explores the magical moments of love, devotion, surrender, and faith of Gauri and Lord Shiva. By using Gauri -- the wife of Lord Shiva -- as a medium, the author pours out her own feelings for the almighty. Gauri is not only the wife of Shiva but also his most dedicated devotee. When he is with her, she devotes herself in pleasing him, and when he is deep in his meditation, she closes her eyes and buries herself in the dreams of her husband. Lord Shiva is impressed by her wholehearted devotion. His every touch mesmerizes her, and she feels his passion, care, and surrender flow into every part of her body.Throughout the book, Dr. Manjusha describes the manners in which Lord Shiva and Gauri express their love for each other.
Magic of Divine Love focuses on delivering the power of selfless love for God. Whether the author writes about her own journey of reverence or Gauri's dedication for Shiva, her intent is clear: she is determined to explain the real potential of meditation, unwavering faith, the feeling of oneness with the God, and complete surrender. To serve this intended purpose, she uses prose as well as poetry. This book speaks volumes of her longing to be with her lord.
As a reader, I admire the books that share an author's belief, as long as it is not done in an obvious and monotonous manner. In this case, however, each chapter kept coming back to two things: Shiva asks Gauri to sit on his lap, and Gauri and Shiva embrace each other. The author could have done a lot better by adding a few engaging short stories of their love. This way, this book would have appealed to a broader audience. An introductory chapter defining the beginning of their love could have allowed readers to get a little insight into their beautiful love story.
Having said that, the author manages to convey the benefits of meditation, faith, surrender, and devotion. She preaches that in one's quest of God, one must embrace the belief that the God is in me and with me, wholeheartedly. Only when you conceive this notion without a shadow of a doubt, you can be with him. By sharing her own experience of having seen Lord Shiva once, she strengthens her credibility on this subject.
She uses descriptive and persuasive writing style to inform the readers about the real meaning of devotion. Magic of Divine Love can act as a guide to the devotees of Lord Shiva. For most of the parts, the tone of the book is thoughtful, intense, and intimate.
I would rate this book 2 out of 4 stars due to its monotonous nature. Although I was touched by the depth of the author's faith, I did not feel connected to the content of the book. I would recommend this book to the readers who are either completely immersed in the love of Lord Shiva or searching for a spiritual guidance of another devotee.

Thanks, Kimmy!kimmyschemy06 wrote:The books sounds interesting. Just like you I would have preferred an 'introductory chapter defining the beginning of their love'. Good job on the review.
