Man Mission is a captivating memoir that takes readers on an adventurous journey with four friends who take yearly trips to exotic destinations: Spain, Japan, South Africa, New Zealand, South Korea, and Hawaii.

The book tells the story of a group of four young men who start a tradition in which every year the group takes a week-long adventure trip together. They call it their Man Mission, their very own annual ritual that they complete every year for fifteen years, no matter where life leads them. Along the way, the group of friends gets married, starts families, and begins their careers. But when the group is faced with real-life challenges that affect the perfect lives they intended to live, their Man Mission becomes their foundation of solidity or coping mechanism to cope with their struggles with life. Where will this adventure take this group of friends, and how will it end? To answer this question, the author takes readers on a journey with his friends as he shares his experiences, reflections, and insights gained over the years. Through the numerous challenges, risks, and rewards, the friends share their burdens and support each other along the way. The book covers various themes such as friendship, love, marriage, fatherhood, aging, masculinity, and life.

I liked how the author used various maps of the destinations they traveled to, verses from the Bible, vital statistics of the outcome, and other details about the trip, as well as quotes, as they blended well with the context of the story as we moved from one chapter of the author's life to the next. The book is well-edited, but there are a few grammatical errors here and there. Other than that, the book is a great read if you enjoy reading memoirs. The author’s writing style is engaging and captivating, grasping the reader's attention from start to finish to find out where the journey leads the friends.

However, the book contains multiple profanities here and there; however, the profanities are not excessive or unnecessary but rather match the context and the story, allowing the story to feel more real than fake, as the author is just being authentic when telling their story. If you are sensitive to profanity in books, you might want to read the book with caution. In contrast, the author's ability to use humor, honesty, and emotion to create an amazing story is impressive, as it makes the reader feel as if they too are part of the author’s journey. For example, the author expresses guilt and anger for failing to maintain and nurture the relationship he has with his wife and kids and struggles to deal with his masculinity.

Therefore, I would rate the book 5 out of 5 stars, as the author did an amazing job of sharing his story and blending various themes to create a captivating story filled with emotion and humor as the author deals with heartbreak, divorce, and maintaining and nurturing relationships with friends and family.

I would recommend the book to readers who are fans of memoirs and fiction. I would also recommend the book to readers who enjoy books that have stories about love, aging, adventure, masculinity, friendship, and life.

In conclusion, the book will encourage you to live life to the fullest, value friendships, and appreciate life. The book will make you experience various emotions with the characters and will make you cry, laugh, and think about certain things. The book changed my perspective on the importance of being present and spending time with the people you care about most. Life is too short to make excuses not to take action, and pursue your dreams.
