I spent days falling asleep while reading and waking up to start where I left off, as I didn't want to stop reading. A group of friends fulfills a childhood fantasy to travel the world, sampling the varying dishes on offer in different countries by going off on a trip once a year. The trips have certain rules to them and allow the friends time to recuperate away from the stresses of family and work.

The book details the challenges men all over the world face, written in a humorous fashion yet speaking directly to the heart. I absolutely loved the book and didn't want to set it down. As I read, I could visualise the places the friends went, the adventures they had and the challenges they faced in their various relationships. Although I believe both sexes would enjoy this novel, I also think this is a novel every man should read. There were moments I would burst out laughing at the anecdotes and hilarious incidents that litter the book. There were some deep, introspective moments which made me reflect on my own life, as well as sad ones too, but the book is light and interesting to read.

Through the events of the novel, I also had moments of self-discovery and I gained many lessons from the book. In addition, the book opened my eyes to how much we are so different yet the same the world over. The writer sums it up well when he says, "In the end, we are all made of the same stuff."

One thing I didn't like was the fine print, which strained my eyes. Also, the last chapters had a hurried feeling about them as if the writer was hurrying to finish the story, and I didn't enjoy them as much as the first chapters, in which scenes and characters are thoroughly explored.

This is a story where I both anticipated the end and dreaded it, as I wanted it to go on and on but also wanted to know how it ended. I wasn't disappointed by the end, and the author concluded the book in great fashion. It was well edited, and I found no writing mistakes in the entire novel. I give this book a rating of 5 out of 5. It is an excellent book, a must-read.
