Man Mission by Eytan Uliel is a heartwarming story of four friends engaging in their yearly adventurous expeditions.

The narrative traces the journeys of four friends - Sam, Daniel, Alec, and the main character - as they undertake annual daring escapades (also affectionately known as “Man Missions”) that push their boundaries while navigating through different phases of life.

The book focuses on one of these trips in each chapter. It interchanges between exciting moments of the adventure with the protagonist’s life-changing events. Each chapter ends with a rundown of each Man Mission, such as location, distance, accommodation and injuries. This adds an element of humour and camaraderie.

A running joke in this book is the "pink bracelet" which is given to anyone who shows fear or backs down from a challenge. It's funny how the main character often has this bracelet, which makes him even more likable.

Real-life events transpire alongside these man missions, from marriages and divorces to business ventures and impending parenthood. Uliel skillfully navigates the ebb and flow of life's challenges, showing how these experiences both test and strengthen the bonds of friendship. It's moving to witness the protagonist find solace and inspiration in the group's travel adventures, turning to his friends for support and understanding during difficult times.

This is a feel-good and uncomplicated book. The simple storyline transports readers to an idealized world with fun adventures and close friendships, leaving ample room for imagination. It reminds me of The Secret Island written by Enid Blyton but this is tailored for a mature audience with some profanity and sexual content.

One small flaw of the book is its format in the OBC reader app. The varying font sizes on alternate pages makes it a somewhat cumbersome reading experience since I needed to constantly zoom in and out of the page.

Nonetheless, this book is suitable for those who are looking for an easy read to escape from the mundane routines of daily life. It is also for those who are aspiring to plan their own extraordinary journeys with friends.

In conclusion, putting aside format of the book, Man Mission is a skilfully edited book with no negative aspects. Therefore, I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.
