Man Mission by Eytan Uliel captures the odyssey of four friends' achievements, adventures, pain, and pleasure as they traverse through some of the finest locations, which gives relief from life's monotonous routine. For more than a decade, they have kept up these trips, covering exotic locations like New Zealand, South Africa, Thailand, Vietnam, and Iceland, to name a few.
How they stand together under all circumstances, sharing their happiness and failures, both in personal and professional lives, shows how much they value their friendship. This story describes the narrator and his friends' adventurous journey every year, where they not only have the time of their lives engaging in sports like biking, hiking, and kayaking but also face multiple challenges on the personal front as they enter into marriage, have children, and do all the things noble men are supposed to do. How an idea born out of boredom becomes a tradition to be carried out at all costs, and how the tradition becomes a respite from their life’s hassles and anxiety, is something to envy.
Year after year, as Man Mission progresses, they end up doing all kinds of crazy stuff just to prove to themselves that they are aging with grace. Every mission has been extensively recorded, with in-depth details of the trip's intricacies. With each and every trip, they carry with them an inescapable treasure of the location’s beauty and their shared time, which is a mixture of feat and splendor. It also focuses on the fact that one’s family obligations will forever stand in the way of one's dreams. And as responsible citizens, we are bound by family and societal commitments, which will always push us to follow a mundane path day in and day out with no chance of escape. It also describes how some mistakes cause long-lasting damage and create a rift in a relationship that becomes impossible to bridge.
On the whole, this story sums up the fact that whatever life dishes out at us, we just have to suck it up and move on. Be it good or bad, we are solely responsible for how our lives turn out.
I give 5 out of 5 star rating for this book. There is nothing to dislike in this book, hence the rating. I recommend this book for everyone.
