Review of The Perfect Life
The Perfect Life by Anne Callahan is a compelling story of two souls whose lives are intertwined by fate and unforeseen circumstances. It all begins in a mystical realm between life and rebirth, where these souls realize they were once married. A mix-up in their fates sets the stage for a tale filled with intrigue.
The first soul takes the form of Reginald Westing III, a wealthy and domineering individual known for causing harm to those around him. The second soul, Sara, hails from a struggling family but harbors dreams of pursuing her education. Their initial encounter turns disastrous as Reginald's inappropriate actions lead to Sara's job loss and his own humiliation. However, this unfortunate meeting also uncovers an unexpected link between the Westings and Sara. Along the way, Sara crosses paths with Booth, Reginald's cousin, sparking a forbidden yet captivating romance. What will become of this love? Find out in this interesting book.
There were several aspects of the book that I genuinely appreciated. Firstly, the author's narrative voice was good, and she adeptly guided the story. The pacing of the book was well executed, with each chapter contributing meaningfully to the plot's development. Additionally, I admired how the author provided insightful social commentary, particularly concerning the societal influences of gender, wealth, and class during the depicted era. The character interactions were enjoyable, and I found Booth's character to be particularly compelling as he underwent personal growth.
However, I must admit that I was slightly disappointed by the limited interaction between Reginald and Sara. The book's introduction hinted at the possibility of a more substantial connection between the two characters, which didn't materialize as expected.
I did not find any errors in this book. It was professionally edited. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. Its interesting plot and professional narration made it a great book. I would recommend this to lovers of paranormal romance novels.
