Review of Our time

[Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of "Our time" by Terry Birch.]
Elizabeth is the daughter of an affectionate couple residing in Evergreen, namely Tom and Samantha. She loves sleeping until well after sunrise. Her mother nags her to get up early. She has a great fondness for nature, often spending her time amidst it. She enjoys conversing with wildlife when in the woods.
At the beginning of the book, Elizabeth sets off into the woods and enjoys the company of butterflies, birds, and rabbits until she realizes she has lost her way and cannot recall the path back home. As it gets dark, she stumbles upon a 'guardian'. He guides her back to her residence. Intrigued, she ventures back into the woods the following day as well. A few days later, she learns something about Twinkle, their cherished cat.
Who is the 'guardian' in the book? What is it about Twinkle that catches the protagonist's attention? Is the 'guardian' aware of Twinkle? Also, what could be the secret hidden in the woods? This book is filled with emotions, bravery, brief teenage love stories, and an epic battle. I won't say any more to avoid spoiling the suspense, but you should read the book to find out how the plot unfolds.
Our Time is a book by Terry Birch that boasts a cover and plot that complement each other perfectly. The book is only 108 pages long and divided into two parts, with Terry Birch taking us on Elizabeth's adventure. I was immediately drawn into the book's captivating plot and appreciated how the author adroitly upholds the conflict between right and wrong and demonstrates that nothing is insurmountable. The book's fast-paced nature quickly reveals intriguing secrets amidst the woods, and the characters' virtues and flaws are essayed in a compelling manner. The plot's twists and turns were captivating. I learned many valuable lessons from this book, which includes empathy, bravery, and self-belief. The second part was a pleasant surprise that felt like receiving two books in one. The book's quick pacing and straightforward writing style allowed me to finish it in one sitting.
The book does, however, have certain drawbacks. I feel compelled to point out that the premise and storyline had tremendous promise but were underutilized. Titles for the two portions would have benefited. A descriptive explanation would have created more vivid imagery and made it more entertaining. However, it does not warrant a reduced rating.
There were several grammar, spelling, and punctuation mistakes. I recommend a comprehensive re-edit because a reader enjoys an error-free book. It was an added task to identify the characters in certain sections. I had to go back and read some parts more than once. Because of the writing style and the number of errors, I rate the book 3 out of 5 stars.
I would suggest this book to young adults and older readers who enjoy fantasy novels with elements of kindness, empathy, bravery, teamwork, and the desire to fight for truth and justice to the bitter end. It is an easy read. You might wish to avoid reading this book if non-borderline profanity offends you.
