Review of Man Mission
The story opens with Sam, a former classmate, reminding the narrator of their shared desire to travel to different nations and experience their natural surroundings and cuisine. They choose to embark on the first "Man Mission" journey when they decide to travel to New Zealand and go hiking for a week. Together with their two buddies, Daniel and Alec, they embark on progressively perilous bicycling, hiking, and kayaking expeditions each year. Together, the four Australian men endure wounds, heartaches, and loss while embracing nature and having fun with one another. Each experience delivers triumph and loss, whether it's getting assistance from drug traffickers, nearly drowning, murdering an animal, or narrowly missing a shark attack. The guys continue their annual excursions for fifteen years, learning about themselves and the kind of men they want to be while living life without women, children, and jobs.
The narrative was chock-full of brave thrills, crackling banter, quotations, and significant lessons on matters of friendship and family. Additionally, the author skillfully and clearly weaved together past and contemporary occurrences. Finally, he provided a detailed account of the distance travelled, the mode of transportation, the amount of time required, and the injuries received on each journey. These contributed to the story's increased realism.
I applaud the author for providing a genuine account of the locations visited; this enables a reader to have a mental picture of the nations travelled to. I was able to get a glimpse of their culture, cuisine, and way of life through the thorough explanation. Additionally, it was a great idea to provide geographical maps of the nations visited.
There was nothing about this book that I didn't like. It reveals the secret challenges males go through as a result of cultural expectations and gives insightful observations and teachings about masculinity. For those who love adventure and are curious about motorcycle travel, camaraderie, and resiliency, it is a motivating read. Anyone who appreciates engaging writing, vivid descriptions, and ideas that motivate and strike a chord with the reader should read this book, in my opinion. It would especially interest people who are curious about the complexity of masculinity, the difficulties presented by cultural standards, and the strength of friendship.
I give this book a resounding 5 out of 5 stars. The captivating natural scenery and the unusual break from routine really spoke to me. These characteristics alone make it an extremely enjoyable read. I wholeheartedly recommend this book to other thrill seekers who value both personal growth and breathtaking landscapes. If you want a good balance of friendship, life lessons, and exciting adventures, this is definitely worth becoming involved with. This book's editing was outstanding.
