"Deadpan" by Richard Walter is a captivating and humorous novel that introduces readers to a character whose role adds an intriguing and comical dimension to the story. Dwight Bridges, a man who, after falling asleep, awakens in an entirely unexpected and unfamiliar place, provides the essence of humor and interest in this narrative. His confusion and inability to comprehend how he ended up in this unusual location give the story an engaging twist.

As Bridges attempts to make sense of his surroundings, a mysterious man approaches him, producing a tiny spoon attached to a vial by a delicate silver chain. He dips the spoon into the vial, collecting a neat pile of fine powder. This moment is particularly suspenseful, leaving readers wondering about the man's intentions as he attempts to introduce a rather unusual action to Bridges. However, Bridges' curiosity and quick reaction disrupt the man's plan, leading to a comical and unexpected outcome.

The scene where Bridges brushes the man's hand away, sending the spoon, bottle, and powder flying, is undeniably humorous and is sure to elicit laughter from readers.

The novel's humor continues as Bridges inadvertently finds himself on a stage, providing his thoughts on the sound systems in a dancing arena. His initial condemnation of the instruments used on stage adds another layer of amusement to the story. The novel's characters and their humorous interactions make it a must-read for anyone seeking an enjoyable and amusing narrative.

One point of note is the novel's frequent use of American language and idioms, which may prove challenging for non-American readers. It would be beneficial if the author could make the language style more accessible to a broader international audience.

The novel appears to be free of typographical errors, although it does contain some profanity and borderline content. Despite this, it remains suitable for a wide range of readers.

Lastly, I rate this novel 3 out of 5 stars for its meticulous character development, humor, and overall error-free presentation. The author's ability to create a story that elicits laughter is commendable, and I applaud the author's skill in crafting an engaging narrative.
