Fifteen years ago, four men had met in college. They enjoyed each other’s company until they parted ways to start their lives. Their lives were now full of commitment, jobs. However, years later, they rejoined together to embark on an adventure, and made it a tradition among them to do this every year.

Man's Mission is a book that explores the many aspects of adventure by detailing the many adventures taken on by the four men. The story follows the adventures of four men. Each adventure was different and at different levels to push themselves to their limits. The adventures started with just two men. Often they didn’t work out until the other two men joined in the fun, a year later, and therefore made it a man's mission. Each adventure they would visit a different exotic destination that had adventures awaiting for them. The characters have quite normal lives. I.e married, their own families, multiple career paths. Each man takes centre stage in this book and we see how, over time, they change and make major changes to their lives, such as decision-making, understanding their new feelings as a man. The man's mission is a good way for men to gather themselves away from their overflowing lives and reconnect with their friends and just be themselves without giving a care in the world. However, once they returned home, they felt humbled, tired, sometimes slightly injured and often feel refreshed and ready to take on the world. Pushing themselves to their limit, they gain a better understanding of what it means to be a man, a hard working man.

The characters in this book are true to life. I like how the characters were developed enough to be understood and we can clearly see how they change over time. This book is about men going on exotic adventures. Normally I wouldn’t read stories about men, but I took the plunge to read this book and I was amazed at what I had read! In today's society, men are often categorised as working aged, putting food on the table to support their wife and family, who do not have their own exciting life. However, this book explores the different aspects of men's lives away from their family. Yes, it shows that they provide for their family, but it shows how a man can also have a life away from his loved ones and enjoy being a human. I like how the author has chosen to express men’s life and what it means to enjoy it away from the normalities life has to offer for them. Also, I like how the author has split the story into many characters that each dives into the many missions the men took. Each chapter also looks at how the men push themselves to their very limit but also have fun with one another. I think that the author has set this book out in a way that shows home life and exotic adventures in flashes and I like how this has been achieved. However, I must point out this can be quite tricky to create and he did this well.

There is nothing to dislike about this book. It portrays the men well and we get a firm understanding of their home lives and their feelings when they are taking part in their missions. If I was to pick something I disliked, I would say that the weaving from home life to their man's mission felt a little off putting. However, it is clear the author did try to make it flow. This did not put me off my reading though! There is one instance of slight profanity however it is hardly noticeable. The author uses the words ‘for gods sake’ for some people this may be slight profanity for some people because they may not like them words used and associate them with bad language.

I’d give the book Man Mission 5 out of 5 stars. I loved every aspect of the book. I particularly enjoyed how the author showed how men can have regular homely lives but can also have a healthy lifestyle in the form of adventurous relationships with their friends! This shows society and how men are expected to be. Whereas in reality, men can be both adventurous with their friends and also down-to-earth with their families. They say women can multitask, but as proven by this book, men can also multitask too. The author deserves recognition for this book as a whole. There were times where I didn’t quite understand the book as I followed it, but I managed to gain focus quickly. Therefore, this wasn’t something to be negative about. There were no errors in this book, which meant that the book is professionally edited. I look forward to more books written by this author.
