After the Ride: Crime and Compassion by JR Conway centers on Craig Spence, the good Sheriff of Sweetwater County, Wyoming. The book details how he and his team solved crimes and, at the same time, helped a few people get their lives back together. A few of the people he helped get their lives back together were Kenneth Boutros, a contractor who fought in Vietnam, and Sister Patricia Anne, a nun. The book also entails how they discovered the mystery behind the mine bushing and how they chased a lead to a drug dealer. Do you want a good crime story? Get this book to know more.

The book is more of an eye-opener to me, as it reveals what several people might be going through in real life but might lack the help needed to put them on track. An example of such a person in this book was Kenneth Boutros, as the Sheriff helped him in the best possible way he could, which Boutros showed his gratitude and thanked him for. In this book, I learned about trust and betrayal, and a few of those cases were those of David Cooke and Dusty, when he was teaching David how to hunt; another was with Matt and his secretary Maggie.

What I loved about After the Ride: Crime and Compassion by JR Conway was the relationship between Craig Spence and his wife, Martha. I also loved the kind of person the author portrayed Craig to be, as he always sticks his head out to help those who need it, and one of these scenarios was how he didn't let go of Kenneth Boutros until he was assured that where he was headed would help him put his life back together. Furthermore, I admired how the officers worked together and shared meaningful information to help track down or solve a crime.

The way too many names were mentioned in this book was one thing that raised a concern for me about it, though that did affect or hinder my reading capability. Other than this, the book was smooth and enjoyable. I found just one error when I was reading, which notified me of the professional editing of this book. With all this in mind, I give it a rating of 5 out of 5 stars.

I recommend this book to those who would love a good cop or sheriff story about crimes and resolutions, as they would find it interesting to read.
