Medusa is a fantasy and adventure novel written by S.A. Scarlet. The book follows the titular character from Greek mythology as it explores her story from childhood until the moment she becomes the monstrous creature known as a Gorgon.

As the book begins, we are introduced to Medusa's parents, Galen and Helen, as well as her sisters, Euryale and Stheno. Helen encounters a serpent with the ability to communicate and develops a strange bond with it. This leads to a host of dire consequences for the entire family. Meanwhile, when a storyteller, Kyrlios, tells would-be heroes Phaeton and Timenious about his failure to defeat Medusa during his hero days, they decide to become heroes and hunt down all the Gorgons. But as Phaeton acquires the aid of Athena, the goddess, he soon discovers what it truly means to be a hero. What will become of Medusa and her family? What will the path of a hero bring for Phaeton? Find out in this enthralling read.

There is quite a lot to love about this book. I enjoyed the dialogue between characters, as it seemed to fit the period of the book. Also, I appreciated the effort put into character development as I got to understand their intentions and motivations. This was evident even with characters that did not play major roles, like Megara and Polydeuces. The author also did a good job of building a deep emotional connection between the readers and the characters. This was especially evident with characters like Stheno, as she dealt with dark feelings and self-harm. My favorite character had to be Phaeton, as I liked his emotional growth as a hero. The pacing of the book was very good, as no chapter dragged in any way. Ultimately, the book was quite an interesting read that did well to bring Greek mythology to life.

My least favorite aspect is the initial confusion caused by the book jumping forward and backward in time without warning. Adding a date prompt at the start of each chapter or section would have enhanced the reading experience.

I found no errors in this book. It was properly edited. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. The book was very interesting and definitely a good read. I saw no compelling reason to remove a star from my rating. I recommend this book to lovers of fantasy novels and lovers of Greek mythology.

The book delves into her family life, her transformation, and the heroic journey of Phaeton, who seeks to defeat the Gorgons. Despite initial confusion due to time jumps, the novel shines with well-developed characters, emotive storytelling, and a riveting pace. The dialogue and character growth, particularly Phaeton's, are highlights. It's a fascinating exploration of Greek mythology that connects readers to the characters in a profound way.
