Pierce Roberts’ science fiction novel The Atlantis Cure: The Secret of the Message Stone is a well-crafted, fast-paced story set in a time when the world faces an apocalyptic pandemic. The novel is Book 4 of the Destroyer Series. Kim Soo-Rah, President of North Korea, unleashes a catastrophic, fast-spreading lethal bioweapon. Her goal is to destroy the US, China, Japan, and South Korea. To stop Kim Soo-rah, an elite team that has worked on past missions against cataclysmic threats to global stability comes together again. Time is of the essence! A swift and effective response is critical to saving the world from near extinction.

I enjoyed reading The Atlantis Cure: The Secret of the Message Stone for its remarkable characters and intriguing storyline of an ancient Atlantean stone bearing a message for the survival of humanity. The novel quickly turned into an immersive read for me. The backstories in the early chapters gave me an excellent idea of the team that must respond immediately when a new global destructive threat emerges suddenly. Team members include brilliant scientists, linguists, retired government and military personnel, and other experts.

In The Atlantis Cure, the subtitle The Secret of the Message Stone refers to an ancient stone dating back to 20,000 BCE, a legacy of a group of people who fled from Atlantis to North America eons ago. I particularly liked the character development of Joseph Blackfeather, a Lakota Indian. His ancient ancestors included the Atlantean survivors. Joseph is a member of the team committed to working for the good of humanity.

Many of the characters sprang to life through the highly imaginative drama of the historical narrative, the vivid settings, the camaraderie of team members, and the mystery of complex inscriptions on the ancient stone.

I think the story gained great depth because of the supporting characters. However, from my perspective, the story tended to become bogged down in the character development of several characters. I did not have a clear idea of who the key character was likely to be until the story introduced Joseph Blackfoot and his connection to the Atlantean survivors. The story then moved more smoothly and I focused on his character to follow the development of the story.

The story twists and turns several times and the suspense rises inexorably as the President of North Korea takes her steps, ruthlessly and without remorse, to impose her rule over the entire world.

Probably the one detracting factor for me was that it took me some time to identify Joseph Blackfoot as the key character. However, I decided to rate The Atlantis Cure: The Secret of the Message Stone 5 out of 5 stars because I enjoyed this compelling and thought-provoking sci-fi thriller. The characters are well-developed. In this story about good vs. evil, those who choose to fight for the good of humanity face a formidable enemy and difficult and life-threatening challenges.
