Review of Cross Intents
Cross Intents: The Battle is a Christian fiction novel penned by Scott R. Wells. The book is the final book in the Cross Intents trilogy. It follows the ministry of Jesus Christ from its beginning after his baptism to his death and resurrection. Like the previous books, it is written largely from the perspective of angels as they observe the actions of Jesus Christ and deal with the conflict against evil.
After his baptism in the previous book, Jesus is tempted by Satan following a period of fasting. He overcomes the devil and goes about establishing his kingdom as his twelve generals are identified. But how he goes about this is a surprise to all, angels and humans alike. He goes about preaching, healing the sick, and casting out demons. But now that he is out in the open, Elric and his angels must protect him from the ever-persistent demonic forces. Will they succeed? What will this conflict cost them? Find out in the epic conclusion to this thrilling trilogy.
Familiar with Jesus Christ's subject matter and impressed by the author's brilliance from previous books, one might anticipate what's in store. Surprisingly, this book surpasses expectations, vividly portraying crucial moments in Christ's life and resonating deeply. The Christian message of salvation was driven hard through the lives of the characters in this book. Daniel's character is the perfect embodiment of this phenomenon. Having followed his story from the beginning of the first book, it was truly heartwarming to see his conclusion here. Another thing the book does well is emphasize the importance of faith. One line that highlights this point is "the faith to believe in the Father’s ability is easy. It is the faith to believe you have heard the Father’s word concerning a matter—that is the difficult part." Chapter 36 delivers a jaw-dropping plot twist, enhancing the narrative. Another thing the book did well was to answer some questions readers may have had from the previous books, like why there was so much secrecy towards Elric and his team considering their mission to protect the king. Issues like this were addressed well in the book. Ultimately, this book was a great read and easily the best out of a great trilogy.
It is extremely difficult to find anything negative about this book, but my least favorite thing about the book was the implications of chapter 36, particularly with the angel involved. It was a truly gut-wrenching point in the book.
I found only a couple of errors in this book. It was professionally edited. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. It was an amazing book deserving of its rating for all the reasons pointed out. I recommend this book to lovers of Christian novels.
