The Secret Gift: A Story of Enhancing the Future of Humanity by Joseph Tristan is a fiction story centered on the life of Dr. Landon Rief. After thirty-five years working as a cardiothoracic surgeon at Allegheny General Hospital, his final day at work finally came. He was celebrated by his colleagues and a former patient with whom he had performed surgeries that extended their stay on this earth. His retirement plan was to make a bucket list that included traveling and revisiting the places Evelyn, his deceased wife, and he had visited during their years together. The first on the list was Germany. On his arrival in Berlin, he met Adele. This changed the whole story as Landon discovered through his conversation with Adele that he had the gift of healing, which was bestowed on him by the creator. As you journey through the pages of this book, you will discover how Landon mysteriously heals chronic diseases and elongates the stay of a young chap on earth.

The first task for Landon was to help Melissa Jane, the daughter of Cathy Diroll, whom he met in the lobby crying on the phone. He approached the lady only to discover that her daughter was suffering from ALL T-cell blood cancer. Landon played a significant role in assisting the family until he was opportune to perform his secret miraculous healing on their daughter. Melissa was completely healed from the cancer, and she was able to lead a fulfilling life.

This book contains 276 pages and 63 chapters, which are distinctly divided by the names of places Landon visited to perform his assigned task of healing. The story was thoughtfully coined and well-detailed. I enjoyed every bit of the story; it was both emotional and intriguing. I couldn’t drop the book until I arrived at the last page. I must confess, that the author did quite a wonderful job. I appreciate the historical part of the book and also the in-depth knowledge of countries that the author provided, from their cultural background to their unique foods and drinks. Furthermore, the author also did justice by explaining some medical terms that enlightened my understanding. Even though it is fictional, this piece is very close to reality.

I did not see anything to dislike in the book. It is exceptionally well edited, as no error was sighted. I will gladly rate the book 5 out of 5 stars. I recommend the book for both young and adult readers. Anyone willing to have a good time reading an interesting novel should try this piece.

I am glad that Landon was able to extend the lives of these people. I am also intrigued by finding out how Adele came about the knowledge of his gift. Thanks!
