Review of Rise Above
Rise Above by Douglas Ell and Steve Eggleston is a Christian fiction novel that presents to the readers undeniable evidence that God exists and that a life outside God is truly not worth living. Contrary to what is erroneously proposed by many that science proves that there is no God, the authors show the readers that true science proves the existence of God. The book revolves around John Arnold and his family. John is a very wealthy man; he has such wealth that money is not an issue for him, but he encounters a problem that his money cannot solve: he is diagnosed with terminal cancer, and this unravels a series of events that transform his life and make him find peace. It's a story of how John and the characters in this book can rise above the things that kept them from seeing the truth and believing in God. It's a book that you will not want to miss.
The authors give the readers a very convincing narrative in Rise Above. There are many lessons that the authors are passing on to their readers through this work of fiction. Though it is a fictional story, the arguments raised by the characters, the ideas, and the science talked about are all real, and that is the message they are portraying in their book. The questions asked are valid, and the answers provided are all valid as well. It's a book that causes you to realize the wretchedness of man without God, how hopeless man truly is, and the freedom that God brings to a soul.
My favorite character in the book is Elijah Wu. His entry was mysterious, and his impact was felt the most in the book. Just like how the Bible tells us that Jesus was able to answer every question that was thrown at him, Eli was a true representative of Christ. His personality, his intelligence, his meekness, and the way he presented the truth were truly amazing, to say the least. Another character in which I enjoyed her role is Mary. She is the backbone of the family.
The book is a genuine delight, displaying impeccable editing and a well-structured narrative. I encountered no flaws or errors, and the compelling arguments and conversations within it left no room for doubt regarding the authors' intended message. I commend the authors for bravely addressing a world where the gospel is often diluted and the state of the church in America may not align with its ideal form. Their outspoken approach contributes valuable clarity to the discourse.
The book gets the highest rating, 5 out of 5 stars, due to its thought-provoking and compelling narrative and the ability of the authors to untangle the division between science and religion. Using fiction, they show the readers how science truly proves that God exists. I recommend this book to everyone, whether they are scientists, uneducated, believers, or atheists. It's a book I recommend to anyone who wants to know the truth about the existence of God.
