The book, Sip Lake is a fictional novel written by Joseph Basara. This is a Rom-Com about a guy named Owen Cloud, an orderly working at a hospital in Cypress City. In this book, he takes the readers through his day-to-day life including the people he met along the way.

The story is set in 1977 and begins with Owen eating his meal in the hospital’s dining room whilst staring at a painting. There came another female orderly named Tina Gardenia, whom he was attracted to and also a little distracted by his own whims. What happens after this is fun. Owen then begins to see and imagine things. Being very insecure about his looks, Owen wonders if he could ever date a beautiful girl! So what do you think? Will Owen manage to get that girl? If yes, how? And if not, what he do next? If you want to know more, then you must read this book.

This book is around 215 pages long divided into five chapters. The story is narrated from Owen’s perspective which made it even more hilarious. It is a light and a short read. I enjoyed reading about Owen’s weird and fascinating imagination. I highly appreciate the author’s creativity and his knack for adding subtle humor in unexpected ways. The thing I liked the most was the raw and mundane aspects of Owen’s life, which seemed realistic like any other guy’s would have been. Also, this is an easy tea-time read that is sweet and less complicated. Although it is about a guy’s everyday life and work, this book does contain a few sensitive subjects like his family issues, difficult love life, low self-confidence, etc. But the best part is that the author has tastefully handled those topics and still managed to make the story humorous.

Overall, I had a good time reading this book. This book does contain some profanity. The book seems well-edited as I did not find any errors while reading. I always prefer a book that has an index or a page of content as it seems structured and also helps me navigate better through the book. But this book lacked it. Also, this story has many characters which was hard for me to remember and relate to. With that being said, I rate Sip Lake 5 out of 5 stars. I don’t have a strong reason to rate this any lower.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading romantic comedies and to anyone who likes reading for fun.
