[Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of "The Humor and Wisdom of the Aged 4th edition" by Euclid Isbell.]
Quotes in the form of a few lines have the power to change our lives. It can provide the much-needed wisdom that we have not yet gained and inspiration to keep driving towards our major life goals. The Humor and Wisdom of the Aged, 4th edition, by Euclid Isbell, is a non-fiction book that has a collection of quotes that can help you with that. She has derived quotes from personal experiences in her life.
The book has three sections. Each section contains quotes from different categories. The three categories are wisdom, humor, and inspiration. Often, we are looking for answers in life and feel stuck. We wish someone would guide us. A lot of times, we do know what we need to do, but we ignore it and need to hear it from outside. The chapter on wisdom will make you aware of harsh truths in life that sometimes we have not faced yet or choose to ignore. Sometimes all we want from our lives is a bit of humor and laughter to get through the day. The chapter on humor will help you with that. When we are going through a tough day and we are finding it hard to make it through the day, reading a quote is sometimes all we need. When we find the right quote, we can feel inspired. The section with inspirational quotes can help you with that.
I liked reading a book full of quotes. This is the first time I have read a book like this. I felt connected to and relatable to a lot of the quotes. Some of the quotes are even worthy of printing and keeping in front of you as a reminder. A quote can be transformational if you can connect to it. I liked the wisdom and humor section of the book the most. The editing of the book is done professionally, and it's flawless.
I did not like the inspiration section of the book that much. The section was heavy on religious quotes for inspiration, primarily from the Christian faith, which potentially limits the audience. The author should have included different types of inspirational quotes, not just religious ones.
Despite the above drawback, I would still rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.
I have given it 5 stars because, ultimately, writing a book of quotes is a personal experience, and I commend the attempt made by the author. The minor drawback does not warrant a lower rating. I would recommend this book to everyone who loves reading quotes and is looking for a bit of wisdom, humor, and inspiration packed into a single book. It will make your day easier and give you a different perspective on life.
