Hello, My Love by Evy Journey is a story about playboy Greg Thorpe whose wild and fancy-free days come to an abrupt end when he discovers the love of his life. From their first romantic encounter, the night before his wedding, Greg decides that he must marry Elise.

Greg boasts that he always finishes what he starts. This doesn’t stop him from dumping the woman to whom he is engaged to start a new romance with Elise. The jilted girlfriend is furious and looks for ways to get revenge on Greg and Elise. Greg and Elise are then separated for two years while he finalizes his legal situation with the ex-girlfriend. Between the angry former girlfriend and ramifications from her job at the Legal Aid Office, Elise faces several dangerous situations. Why doesn’t Greg contact her? Is she just another woman in Greg’s long line of amorous conquests? Can they have a future together? Will they live happily ever after?

A large portion of the material is presented via conversations between the characters. I thought these were very well done, believable and nicely used to convey information and move the story forward. The only portion that was confusing was the two-year separation between Greg and Elise. When they meet up again there is an uncomfortable and confusing gap in details.

I enjoyed the way the author presented Elise and all her emotional ups and downs. Elise is not painted as a superwoman who multitasks and handles every situation with ease. The author did not cover up her breakdowns and seeking help to get through the stressful times. At the same time, Elise has a goal of eventually being independent and not taking advantage of those who are willing to offer to help her.

One of the women in the book struggles with her decision to have an abortion. I thought the author presented in a realistic way the emotional and psychological struggles this procedure presents. So often our society glamorizes abortion, but the author showed that there are many deep and painful factors involved. I admire her courage in presenting an honest view of a woman’s emotions and moral dilemmas as she considers going through with this act.

I rate this book 4 out of 4. It was an easy, enjoyable read. The author did a very good job of presenting the struggles and triumphs of a modern woman. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a warm love story with a dash of mystery.
