Hello, My Love is a story about love, lies, confusion and growing up. There is romance and passion but also a genuine review of feelings and reflection on the characters’ lives. It is a book that draws you in and keeps you wanting to read more.
Greg Thorpe and Elise Halverson are an unlikely pair brought together by Elise’s father, who Greg has a working relationship with. The two fight right from the start and seem to be on different ends of the spectrum although you can tell Greg is interested in Elise. Greg is in the spotlight, due to his very successful company, and is touted as a playboy. Elise is focused on school and becoming a lawyer. However, their relationship eventually buds into more and just before Greg’s wedding they share a passionate night together that changes their lives forever. They part ways and end up not talking for two years and both of their lives have drastically changed in that time but when they come back together it really keeps you wanting to see where things go.
Hello, My Love seems like it is well edited and professionally reviewed. There are a few instances where commas seem to be used in the incorrect places but, other than that, I did not see any issues with the story. The characters are well developed and there don’t appear to be any errors or misrepresentations in geography or general references. I recognize that sex and passion are key to the relationship between Greg and Elise and where it goes. I appreciate that this is not described in too explicit of terms and does not overwhelm the rest of the story.
My main complaints are in some of the plot progression. I feel as though a main plot twist in the book is left generally unresolved at the end. Saying specifically what that twist is would give away too much but, to me, it is only partially resolved. I also feel like the author skipped a huge part of all of the characters’ lives by skipping ahead two years. There is a brief synopsis of what occurred during that time but I think that those two years were very fundamental in the paths that the characters took and a few paragraphs of summarizing what occurred during that time does not seem sufficient, in my opinion.
I would rate Hello, My Love 4 out of 4 stars. The book is well written and edited. It draws you in right from the beginning and, overall, comes to a decent conclusion where most questions are answered. Because of how well this story is written I am anxious to check out the others by Evy Journey.
