[Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of "Kisatchie Voices" by J. C. Oliver.]
The book Kisatchie Voices by J. C. Oliver started during the boom days of the sawmill. Joshua’s wife died, which made him helpless and furious. Joshua is the breadwinner of his family and takes a lot of responsibility, but he is a drunkard. Oscar is another young adult who worked diligently to do all the work he wanted to do and to provide for his family. Emma is a young lady with little help and struggles to feed her dad. She was introduced to work by Tom Rocker’s wife, and the work became her lifeguard.
Emma met Hughes. Emma is the daughter of Joshua. Hughes lives with Tom and Flora. They soon became friends, and their friendship metamorphosed into a great romance. Then, it is time for Hughes to go, and Emma cannot live with the memory of losing him. Hugh, Scott, and Ellis are friends; their actions got them into trouble with the damage to Carmichael’s car. This trouble caused Emma great pain. What is the pain? Did she recover from the pain? How did it happen? Readers will find the answers in the book.
I like how Emma surmounted her troubles and got a new life in New Orleans. She worked hard and started her professional career. The career will be a mystery to the readers. The writing style is descriptive and inviting. The readers are welcome to understand the story from an inquisitorial point of view. The narrative is slow-paced but still very engaging. The storyline is intriguing. The narration is the positive aspect of the book. I enjoyed the flow.
Reading the book at my leisure was the best decision that I made. There is nothing to dislike about the book. It interests me. I did not find any negative aspects to the book. It is engaging and relatable. The editing is flawless. Emma’s friendship with Mercedes and Lavenia is an example of true friendship.
I will give the book Kisatchie Voices by J. C. Oliver 5 out of 5 stars. The reasons for my rating are above. I would recommend the book to lovers of books on family growth and history. The narrative is exceptional. Readers of good literary work will enjoy the book.
