The Kitten Burglar by John A. Burnham - new author, on Amazon and Barnes/Noble. Refreshing, creative mystery with no explicit, graphic sex or violence. Thank goodness! Thought-provoking story about decency, honor and ideals versus amorality. Descriptive, detailed, methodical suspense story that doesn’t need wild car chases and random body parts to keep your attention.

Kitten’s past and how she arrived in her present illegal career, has been molded from her unique family circumstances, and her father's somewhat sad choices for her. Because of her current talents she now finds herself in a paradoxical dilemma – wanted by both the mafia and the law. How her future will be written now depends on her choices in this Catch 22.

Well-developed characters have street smarts as well as intellectual insights. Women are not helpless victims but smart and capable individuals. Men have hidden strengths that rise to any challenge. Mob members demonstrate contradictory behaviors. Their lives intertwine in surprising ways as they follow a maze of clues leading to despicable crimes.

Each character has a different ethical compass, and Kitten’s antagonist Detective Moore uses his intuition and legal wiles trying to persuade everyone to follow the same direction. Sidestepping bureaucratic obstacles at every turn, ignoring technicalities, and developing a strategic plan, he tries to form a collective effort to prevent the unspeakable.

Will he succeed? And how will any outcome affect the individuals involved?

Suspenseful, entertaining.
