Under the Dome
I will say that I liked it as a good ole' Stephen King story. I did like Duma Key better, thinking of a more recent SK book. Another that I liked more was Lisey's Story, although I suspect most wouldn't agree with me. But on the whole I would recommend this book to anyone who likes Stephen King as a writer. A good ride.

Although the ending was very disappointing i would still rate this book 8 out of 10.

I have wanted to read under the done...just the fact that there is no inner flap that tells you what goes on in the story is intriguing enough for mepoomlie wrote: Another that I liked more was Lisey's Story, although I suspect most wouldn't agree with me.
but lisey's story is one of my favorite king books of all.

I think the ending was brilliant.StephenKingman wrote:I loved Under the Dome right up to the ending, which was very unsatisfying and highly illogical. However that doesnt detract from the fact that the book is an excellent study of small town politics and anarchy in the face of destruction that King is so gifted at writing.

I completely agree with you about the anarchy part of it- a bit like The Mist in terms of how quickly people loose a lot of what was civilised behaviour 12 hours ago in the face of abnormality.
As for the ending, at first I sat there and felt the same as you- unsatisfied. Was that it? But that was the whole point! I don't want to spoil anything for anybody either, but what I got out of it is this- people aren't the be all end all of the universe. The ending can be likened to whether or not we step on an ant, or feel generous that day and avoid it. Most of us wouldn't loose any sleep over it either way.
Another great book from Stephen King!
