Hello, My Love is a modern Pride and Prejudice story by Evy Journey. The story of Elise and Greg is interesting and complicated. Elise is focused on her career and Greg is a playboy. That is until he meets Elise. He gets invited to many of her parents dinner gatherings. At first Elise pays no attention to Greg but over time she starts to like him more and more. After they share a night of passion Greg's jilted fiancee wants revenge.
Elise and Greg's relationship, to me, was sad and also sweet at the same time. Their flirtatious texts in the beginning before their relationship was very sweet but then it broke my heart when they didn't talk for that period of time but when they got back together he was so sweet to her. He took on the father role beautifully too. Once it was revealed to him that he had a son, he stepped right up to the plate. It just goes to show that love can make it if you really give it your all. I also really enjoyed that the book wasn't written as one perspective. You get a taste of what each of then is thinking and how they are feeling.
The one thing I wish is that the author has elaborated on some of the scenes. For example, what happened during those two years, between Elise and Greg not speaking? The last chapter of the book was very vague about the trip Greg and Elise took.
This novel is semi fast paced and skips ahead a lot and I can definitely see how it would bother some people. I also did not like the character of Lori. She seemed very stuck up and made everything drama if it didn't go her way. Both Greg and Lori admitted they didn't love each other so why get married? Another character I did not get along with was Greg's mother, she also had that stuck up sense of entitlement to me.
I gave this book 4 out of 4 because it is beautifully written. Filled with drama, romance and a touch of humor, it is sure to keep your attention. I feel like the modern take of Pride and Prejudice is a lot more realistic now. The author takes you in a different direction than you would think the book would go, based on the title, cover, and synopsis of the book.
