Taking a closer look at So-so by Nicholas A. Ventura, it is important to understand that this is not a regular poetry book with a set of verses; instead, it is a highly philosophical work, which seems to be an author’s exploration of their own thoughts and emotions through poems, prose, and stories. Some of the central issues that it brings to focus include mental health, love, breakups, depression, and other acts of reflection through the different phases of life.

The book is not only an output of the author documenting a real-life journey but an open book that the readers can also pore over and make of the gaps however they want to. The prose is very colorful and full of emotion, and I believe that this book is about the flaws of people and their constant strive to be better. The main themes of the book include notions such as failure and, at the same time, the beauty of the ''ugly.’’. The book was exceptionally well edited and error-free.

Don’t misunderstand; what I like concerning this book is the real and genuine feeling it captures about life. I love how the disease and suffering of the mind are depicted in such a touching and considerate way; this provides hope to those who are also suffering. Another strength that I like to say about the book is the ability to get the reader curious and discover the author’s interpretation of what was written, which makes it unique and personal.

I cannot find anything dislikable about this book because each page is perfectly balanced with social satire, compassion, and motivation, which makes the book highly enjoyable and impactful. The author often raises topics that are relevant to modern society, for example, the role of technology, the gap between the rich and the poor, and cultural sensitivity. This way, the writing becomes more significant, which necessarily evokes in readers certain thoughts about the surrounding reality.

This main feature helps the book maintain active relevance, where readers do not only read, but the contents compel one to engage actively with the realities of the world today. I gave this book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars because the main advantage of the book is its highly emotional tone, and the way it explains the essence of human feelings and actions in detail makes me give it a high rating. This book is recommended for people who love to read philosophical books.
